LOGO Design :
Bellows free Academy “pink the pink”
The client requested a logo for a high school’s annual 'Pink the Rink' breast cancer awareness hockey game. The goal was to create a design that embodied both the spirit of the sport and the importance of the cause. This logo needed to resonate with the community, bring visibility to breast cancer awareness, and energize supporters for the event. The logo will be featured on shirts and sweatshirts sold at the event to raise funds for related charities.
logo design
The process of creating this logo began with understanding the event’s dual purpose: celebrating hockey and raising breast cancer awareness. I explored concepts that combined symbols of strength and solidarity, incorporating elements like hockey sticks, the color pink, and bold text. I refined the initial sketches to create a design that would be visually impactful and versatile for use on apparel and promotional materials. The final logo balances a bold sports aesthetic with a message of hope and support, serving as a unifying symbol for the event and its fundraising goals.
Final Takeaways
This project highlighted the importance of creating a design that goes beyond aesthetics to capture the spirit and significance of a community event. The process reinforced my commitment to blending meaningful symbolism with a practical, versatile design that resonates with both players and supporters. Seeing the logo used to foster community pride and support breast cancer awareness was a rewarding reminder of the impact thoughtful design can have.
The importance
This annual "Pink the Rink" event holds deep meaning, celebrating the strength of those impacted by breast cancer and uniting the community in support of a vital cause. To create a logo that captured this, I gathered a mood board of action photos from past games, showcasing the tenacity and pride of the players as well as the community spirit these games foster. As the highest-attended games of the regular season, they reflect a collective pride and purpose that needed to resonate in a timeless logo—one that honors the energy and unity of the event while symbolizing hope and resilience.
Presentation
Once the client selected their preferred logo iteration, I created digital mockups for use in apparel pre-orders.
The Impact
Over 400 individual sweatshirts and t-shirts were sold at this event and the teams raised over $2,000 to be donated toward breast cancer research funding.
